Argentina’s High Altitude Wines - The Healthiest?

Wine-Knows: Fine Wine & Gourmet Food Journeys for the Discerning Traveler: Argentina’s High Altitude Wines---the World’s Healthiest?:

"So, what is it about elevation that makes the difference?  Higher altitude vineyard sites are closer to the sun.  Grapes implement a defense mechanism against the sunlight intensity by thickening their skins, resulting in higher polyphenol levels.   Resveratrol, one of these polyphenols, has been shown to have great anti-oxidant properties.  Antioxidants have been shown in numerous medical studies to protect the heart.

High altitude wines, however, may promote more than just cardiac health.  Resveratrol has been found to have implications for destroying human cancer cells.  This important polyphenol may also have “fountain of youth” inference as it has been shown to encourage cell survival during times of stress."

Tiger Woods' Torrey Pines win a great forecast for his 2013 - Sporting News:

"Monday’s virtual walkover—a 4-stroke victory at 14-under—finished off Tiger’s seventh victory (eight overall, counting the 2008 U.S. Open) in the annual Tour stop at Torrey Pines (formerly the Buick Invitational, now the Farmers Insurance Open). A win there, early in the year, has been an omen for success for him every time, going back nearly to the beginning of his run.

In each of the previous six years he’s won this tournament (1999, 2003 and 2005-08), he has finished the year with at least five victories. In five of those seasons, the win total has included at least one major. The exception was ’03, during what was then considered a catastrophic, career-altering “slump”—10 straight majors without a win, with the ’03 shutout aided by late ’02 knee surgery."

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy miss cut at Abu Dhabi

This kind of performance makes it really hard to stay interested.

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy shoot 75s, miss cut at Abu Dhabi - Sports - The Boston Globe:

"Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the Abu Dhabi Championship in the United Arab Emirates Friday, a woeful start to the season for the world’s top two golfers.

Woods missed it after he was penalized two shots for wrongly taking a free drop, while top-ranked McIlroy was frustrated trying to adjust to his new Nike clubs, even though he used his old Titleist putter in the second round. Both finished with 3-over-par 75s."
