We recently visited Germany and found it frustrating that many of our US issued credit cards wouldn't work.

What we ran into was the microchip and PIN technology that is standard in credit cards in Europe, but not in our American credit cards.

To the rescue for US travellers, Bound for Europe? New microchip card caters to Americans.
"The new Cash Passport card can be bought in either euros or pounds from Travelex retail stores. They will also be sold online next year from the www.US.Travelex.com website, which also lists Travelex retail store locations."

If you're researching 3 star ratings, then check out this table of Michelin 3 Star Restaurants in Europe 2010, 2009 and 2008.
