Summer travelers looking for bigger, longer vacations this year - CNBC

Summer travelers looking for bigger, longer vacations this year - CNBC:

"Travelers from the U.S. are looking to make more trips to Europe and Asia this summer, Gavin said. While the Asia trips (mainly Thailand, China, the Philippines and Taiwan) are likely due to a 4 percent price drop over last year, the European vacations appear to be catching up to pent-up demand left over from the recession, she said."

China's Cruise Industry is Growing Fast - Quartz

Image name: cruise ship.
Photographer: Jon Sullivan.
Quartz:

"The growth is due not only to China’s rapidly growing travel market, but to the country’s location near small, attractive islands. The cruise industry is poised to take advantage of the nearby landscape much as it has taken over the Caribbean islands near the United States.

"There’s good weather here, lots of islands to visit and a lot of experiences. ..."

All You Can Drink Cruises - Controversy

Royal Caribbean International FlagImage via Wikipedia
I'm glad to hear that "all you can drink" packages are rolling out, Cruise Critic: Cruise and Booze: All-You-Can-Drink Packages Coming From Royal Caribbean.

We drink a fair amount on cruises, so the convenience of a package makes sense to me. However, there's a buzz of controversy. Cruise Critic Editor in Chief, Carolyn Spencer Brown, asks, "Will all-you-can-drink packages encourage people to drink to excess, or simply offer a convenient and money-saving option for those with big bar bills?"

What's your opinion?

Golf Hawaii - NCL Pride of America

Updated October 21, 2024

Sadly, the original link broke.

---  the original post follows below  ---

We just got back yesterday from our Hawaii cruise with NCL's Golf Hawaii Program aboard Pride of America.

The cruise ship started/ended in Honolulu Oahu, and visited the islands of Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai. We played on Oahu before joining the cruise, and played 4 times throughout the cruise. This was our first experience with a golf excursion arranged through the cruise ship.

In a nutshell, the golf experience was wonderful and far exceeded our expectations. Here's why:
  1. The onboard PGA golf pro, Cory McKim, was the utmost golf professional.
  2. He joined us on all the golf outings, making sure the transporation, and golf arrangements for each course was smooth sailing.
  3. I've been playing for less than a year and found Cory's teaching style perfect for me, while out on the course, back on the ship's "golfing cage", and during the video analysis of my swing out on the course.

Any Tips for NCL Cruise - Golf HI Program - Pride of America?

A picture of the cruise ship MS Pride of AmericaImage via Wikipedia
I'm thinking hard about taking advantage of the Golf Hawaii Program on the Norwegian Cruise ship, Pride of America.  The program description looks pretty good, NCL - Golf Hawaii Program aboard Pride of America.

I'm excited about the prospect of playing golf on different Hawaiian islands, and the golf amenities and services that NCL offers.

My question to you, do any of you have any real experience or pearls of wisdom to offer before I jump in head first?
