"Tiger Woods is pulling the plug on the season. 

The PGA Championship said on Tuesday that he had withdrawn from the major, and his agent Mark Steinberg said that he will not play in a event for the rest of the 2015-16 season."

"Woods played five holes at his Bluejack National golf course in Montgomery, Texas, the first such action for the 14-time major champion since his 13-under performance at the Wyndham Championship.

"I haven't been out here playing like this. I hadn't played any holes until today," Woods said, per Bob Harig of ESPN.com. "I know people have said I've played holes back at Medalist, but I haven't. This is actually the first time I've played holes since Wyndham. It's been a while.""

ESPN’s Masters ratings plummet without Tiger Woods | For The Win:

"ESPN’s first-round telecast was down 800,000 viewers from last year to a record low of 2 million. That’s the lowest Thursday viewership in the seven years the network has been broadcasting the Masters.

How much of the drop is directly attributable to the lack of Tiger is anyone’s guess. Interestingly, he wasn’t featured in last year’s Thursday broadcast since he teed off early in the day. Could the idea of Tiger, or just his presence on any portion of the leaderboard, really be responsible for a 33% decrease in viewers?"
