Chez Panisse - The Head Chefs

Chez PanisseImage via WikipediaWhen I hear the restaurant name, Chez Panisse, I usually jump to the name of Alice Waters. But wait, there are some other key players, namely the head chefs, David Tanis and Jean-Pierre Moulle'.

Tanis just published his new book, Heart of the Artichoke and Other Kitchen Journeys, that is a sequel to his A Platter of Figs and Other Recipes. The new book continues and expands on the idea and feeling of intimate French dinners, for small, medium, and large gatherings.

Reminiscing About 3 Star Michelin in France

View while waiting for dinner at l'Auberge de l'Ill in Illhaeusern, France - 3 star Michelin restaurant
I was in conversation with some folks at work, and found myself reminiscing about a 3 star Michelin experience at L'Auberge de L'Ill in Illhaeusern.

If you're researching 3 star ratings, then check out this table of Michelin 3 Star Restaurants in Europe 2010, 2009 and 2008.

Michael Mina in Westin St. Francis SF is Closing

It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame, on so many fronts.

First, I was a big fan of the Compass Rose which preceded the current Michael Mina Restaurant. It was a comfortable, warm, and welcoming lobby space.

Second, Michael Mina is a very good restaurant, that ate away at public space in the lobby area of the St. Francis.

Third, and lastly, do we really need another steak restaurant, especially in the Westin?!

Read more about this closing on Paolo Lucchesi's post, Michael Mina to close next month, reopen as Bourbon Steak.
