A New Year Golf Gift
Image via WikipediaWe spent New Year's day with some special friends. Of course, we spent it over a lunch of fine food and fine wine. They too, love to play golf.
They surprised us with a fun gift of: Golfing - The Golfers Journal - Write It Down! Memories Are All That's Left - Live, Love, Laugh . . . (Author: Barbara Morina)
It's a fun journal. Next big question. I've kept scorecards for the last year or so, should I go back and try to reconstruct the past year in the journal?!

For heaven's sake people, do you really act this badly in restaurants?!
Sending back dishes: In(comp)etent, (comp)licated or (comp)letely crazy?
I'm of the opinion that patrons too often try to get a free ride. Is that what you're seeing in restaurants?

Solution For US Credit Cards Not Working In Europe
Image via Wikipedia
We recently visited Germany and found it frustrating that many of our US issued credit cards wouldn't work.
What we ran into was the microchip and PIN technology that is standard in credit cards in Europe, but not in our American credit cards.
To the rescue for US travellers, Bound for Europe? New microchip card caters to Americans.

Hope For Wine Allergy Sufferers
Image via WikipediaThis MSNBC News Article gives wine allergy sufferers some future hope of a cure, Sipping without sneezing? Scientists thwart wine allergies.
In a nutshell, about 8 percent of the world's population can’t sip wine without suffering symptoms of a bad cold. Sulfites cause symptoms in about 1 percent of that group, and a new substance, glycoproteins (sugar-coated proteins), are now being blamed for the other 7 percent.

Mike Lupica To Tiger - ... Sing
Image via WikipediaI totally agree with Mike Lupica, in his article, Tiger Woods: One year after fall from grace we realize he's only interesting when he's winning.
Everytime I turn on the TV to see how Tiger is doing in a tournament, if he's not in contention, I'm certainly less interested.
As Mr. Lupica says, "Shut up and sing."

Golf Hawaii - NCL Pride of America
Image via Wikipedia
Updated October 21, 2024
Sadly, the original link broke.
--- the original post follows below ---
The cruise ship started/ended in Honolulu Oahu, and visited the islands of Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai. We played on Oahu before joining the cruise, and played 4 times throughout the cruise. This was our first experience with a golf excursion arranged through the cruise ship.
In a nutshell, the golf experience was wonderful and far exceeded our expectations. Here's why:
- The onboard PGA golf pro, Cory McKim, was the utmost golf professional.
- He joined us on all the golf outings, making sure the transporation, and golf arrangements for each course was smooth sailing.
- I've been playing for less than a year and found Cory's teaching style perfect for me, while out on the course, back on the ship's "golfing cage", and during the video analysis of my swing out on the course.

Chez Panisse - The Head Chefs
Image via WikipediaWhen I hear the restaurant name, Chez Panisse, I usually jump to the name of Alice Waters. But wait, there are some other key players, namely the head chefs, David Tanis and Jean-Pierre Moulle'.
Tanis just published his new book, Heart of the Artichoke and Other Kitchen Journeys, that is a sequel to his A Platter of Figs and Other Recipes. The new book continues and expands on the idea and feeling of intimate French dinners, for small, medium, and large gatherings.
